,~ <br />APPROVED 2/1/2011 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />December 6, 2010 <br />7:00 p.m. <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, <br />December 6, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Central Orange Senior Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Bernadette Pelissier and Commissioners <br />Valerie P. Foushee, Alice M. Gordon, Barry Jacobs, Pam Hemminger, Earl McKee, and Steve <br />Yuhasz <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT County Manager Frank Clifton, Assistant County Managers <br />Willie Best and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff members <br />will be identified appropriately below) <br />Resolution of Commendation for Commissioner Mike Nelson <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Foushee seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br />adopt a resolution of commendation for Commissioner Nelson. Chair Foushee read the <br />resolution. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />Resolution of Commendation <br />For <br />Commissioner Mike Nelson <br />WHEREAS, the voters of Orange County elected Mike Nelson to the Board of <br />County Commissioners in 2006; and, <br />WHEREAS, Mike Nelson has served the residents of Orange County as a <br />dedicated public servant for many years, and served with distinction as their <br />County Commissioner for the past four years, including election by his peers as <br />Vice-Chair of the Board of County Commissioners in 2009; and, <br />WHEREAS, Commissioner Nelson has given freely and unselfishly of his time <br />and energy and through his foresight and leadership, helped promote progressive <br />changes and improvements in the operations and services of Orange County <br />government; and, <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure as an Orange County Commissioner, Mike Nelson has shared <br />his talent for leadership and public service through his work on numerous <br />committees, boards, and task forces including the Animal Services Advisory <br />1 <br />
