G~
ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING JOHN ROBINSON .FOR HIS PERSISTENCE IN
OBTAINING NCDOT ACTION REGARDING UPGRADE AND ACCEPTANCE OF
MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ROADS IN HYDEAWAY ESTATES
WHEREAS, Mr. John Robinson, in December 2001, appeared before the Orange
County Board of County Commissioners requesting help to insure safe access on
streets in Hydeaway Estates subdivision; and
WHEREAS, all parties deemed that the most effective way of addressing conflicts and
issues regarding safe access on streets in Hydeaway Estates subdivision, including the
personal safety of Mr. Robinson and denial of access to the roadways by a property
owner in the subdivision, would be to have North Carolina Department of Transportation
assume maintenance responsibilities for roads in the subdivision; and
WHEREAS, Mr. John Robinson appealed to North Carolina Department of
Transportation to accept maintenance responsibilities for Cherry Street, Glenn Street
and Tanya Drive in Hydeaway Estates subdivision; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson persisted in his pursuit regardless of difficulties regarding
irregularities in the platting of road rights-of-way and the objection of one resident; and
WHEREAS, Cheery Street and Glenn Street in Hydeaway Estates subdivision are now
part of the North Carolina State Secondary Road System; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, on April 13, 2004, will
approve Tanya Drive for inclusion in the North Carolina State Secondary Road System,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of
Commissioners recognizes Mr. John Robinson on his unwavering efforts to ensure that
streets in Hydeaway Estates subdivision are kept open to provide safe access for all
residents of the subdivision.
This the 13th day of April, 2004.
Barry Jacobs; Chair
Orange County Board of Commissioners
