ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK <br />April 18-24, 2004 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners <br />and the National Association of Counties have urged citizens <br />across the state and the nation to learn more about county <br />government's role in our lives; and <br />WHEREAS, Counties provide public safety; offer health and human <br />services; provide opportunities for new businesses to <br />prosper; and support job training and educational initiatives; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Counties provide many services that make America's <br />communities stronger, safer places to live and raise families; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, County officials and employees use their role as local <br />leaders to encourage economic development and therefore <br />improve the lives of their citizens and make their. <br />communities more livable; and <br />WHEREAS, County governments are the citizen's local government <br />voice, providing solutions that bring communities together. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we the Orange County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim the week of April 18 through 24, 2004 as Orange County Government <br />Week, and further encourage all citizens to become familiar with the services <br />provided by Orange County Government. <br />This, the 16th day of March 2004. <br /> <br />Barry Jacobs, C. air <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
