CLOSED SESSION MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />MARCH 19, 1996 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in closed session on Tuesday, March 19, 1996 at <br />approximately 9:15 p.m. in the break area adjacent to the OWASA Community meeting room in Carrboro, <br />North Carolina. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Moses Carey, Jr., and Commissioners William L. <br />Crowther, Stephen H. Halkiotis and Don Willhoit. <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONER ABSENT: Commissioner Alice Gordon <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant County Manager Rod <br />Visser, Economic Development Director Ted Abernathy and Purchasing Director Pam Jones <br />A. PROPOSED CONTRACT FOR THE ACQUISITION OF REAL PROPERTY <br />The purpose of this item is to instruct staff concerning the material terms of a proposed <br />contract for the acquisition of real property by lease or purchase. <br />The Board discussed purchasing the property at 503 West Franklin Street. The Board, by <br />consensus authorized the staff to proceed in negotiating a purchase agreement with the owners of 503 West <br />Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. <br />B. LOCATION AND/OR EXPANSION OF INDUSTRIES WITHIN ORANGE COUNTY <br />The Board received a presentation by Ted Abernathy on the Georgia Pacific building and a <br />summary of their options for future use of this building. <br />C. APPROVAL OF CLOSED SESSION MINUTES FOR MARCH 19. 1996 <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Chair Carey to approve the <br />minutes for March 19, 1996 as stated above. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit to reconvene <br />into regular session. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Moses Carey, Jr., Chair <br />Beverly A.
