Revised 11 -4 -10 <br />Orange County Parks and Recreation Council <br />Fiscal Year 2010 Approved Goals and Objectives <br />1. Provide a support system for Parks and Recreation. <br />Objectives: a. Advocate for Programs as a group and with constituencies in individual member <br />communities. <br />Members: b. Encourage Use of Facilities. <br />All c. Advise Parks and Recreation Staff and the Board of County Commissioners <br />d. Solicit questions and comments, and provide responses to community members. <br />e. Support the Development of Environmental Programming and <br />Environmentally Responsible Services. <br />f. Work this year to develop inclusion services funding in the budget next year. <br />2. Assist and advise in the development of a Needs Assessment document. <br />Objectives: a. Conserve staffing resources by considering a student intern or Apples student <br />Members: b. Target Specific issues to be addressed by PARC <br />Denise c. Advise on Survey Methodology <br />Vanessa <br />3. Advocate for resources in FY 11 -12 (July 2011) to develop an update to the 1988 Recreation and <br />Parks Master Plan. <br />Obiectives: a. Identify scope of work for the Plan (and consistency with Comprehensive Plan) <br />Members: b. Create and clarify focus on Recreation Services. <br />Chuck c. Plan for Public input sessions and /or focus groups considering Geographic <br />representation. <br />d. Advocate for development of the master plan for the future Millhouse Rd. Park <br />and for other master plans as appropriate. <br />4. Form a "Friends of Parks and Recreation Group" <br />Objectives: a. Continue and conclude subcommittee work <br />Members: b. Research other friends groups <br />Denise c. Develop a Mission Statement, Bylaws and other needed documents <br />Floyd d. Solicit community memberships for Board of Directors and general membership <br />e. Set up as a charitable organization (5016) <br />Kyle f. Reach out to the developing "Friends of Open Space Group." <br />5. Develop opportunities to interact with Advisory Groups from the municipalities <br />Objectives: a. Continue to Participate in support of the rotating meeting between all groups every <br />other year. <br />Members: b. Solicit an individual to recommend for appointment to the CHP &R board <br />Chuck c. Develop a way to interact with this individual as a liaison between RPAC and the <br />Clay Chapel Hill Board <br />Laurie d. Develop liaisons with Hillsborough and Carrboro. <br />6. Advocate for increased opportunities for shared use of resources with the Schools <br />Objectives: a. Work to continue improving relationships with Orange County Schools <br />Members: b. Advocate for opening certain outdoor facilities to general community use <br />Richal c. Advocate for affordable use of interior spaces <br />Keith d. Advocate for improved administration of the facility use process <br />Jimmy e. Work to receive updates on staff collaboration work. <br />' The PARC has been involved in discussions about creation of such a group for several months. Upon subcommittee report and research, a <br />group to work toward bylaws and 501(c) 3 status would be created. PARC members may work with this group outside of PARC meetings, <br />and communicate on a regular basis. <br />
