The council has worked toward the establishment and incorporation of a Friends of Parks and <br />Recreation Group (the future of which will be coordinated by a Friends working group). <br />The Council hosts the biannual Joint RPAC meeting every third year. <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. <br />none <br />Describe this board /commission's activities /accomplishments in carrying out BOCC <br />goal(s) /priorities, if applicable. <br />PARC reviews the site plans for major subdivision applications in county jurisdiction. <br />Recommendations are made as to conservation of potential parks and open space, which often <br />include high priority natural areas, wildlife corridors and prime forests. (Goal 5) <br />PARC has adopted its own goal to advocate for an update to the 1988 Comprehensive Parks <br />and Recreation Master Plan. This study is needed to determine the appropriate ratio of parks to <br />population, evaluate needs and scope of future activities, and timeline for facility development <br />(for inclusion in Capital Investment Plans). (Goal 5) <br />The council reviewed plans and advised on the greenway at Twin Creeks and the potential <br />partnership with Chapel Hill re: the allocation of Soccer Superfund monies for improvements at <br />Cedar Falls Park. (Goal 6) <br />If your board /commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory Board involved in <br />the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, please indicate your board's <br />activities /accomplishments as they may relate to the Comprehensive Plan's goals or <br />objectives. <br />PARC members assisted with the current Recreation Needs Assessment survey to assist in <br />addressing element goal 1 and 4. PARC has also advised on the implementation of inclusion <br />practices as well as a medication policy in accordance with the ADA. (goal 1) <br />The council continues to advocate for accessibility for the general pubic and for recreation <br />providers to the Orange County School facilities. Discussions begun at the 2006 joint "RPAC" <br />meeting have progressed through the IPWG to Management level. <br />Identify any activities this board /commission expects to carry out in 2011 as they relate <br />to established BOCC goals and priorities. <br />If applicable, is there a fiscal impact (i.e., funding, staff time, other resources) associated <br />with these proposed activities (please list). <br />An update to the 1988 Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan would require funding <br />with which to hire a consultant.
