/L• <br />ORANGE COUNTY ADVISORY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />INPUT FOR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' ANNUAL PLANNING RETREAT <br />The Board of Commissioners welcomes input from various advisory boards and <br />commissions in preparation for its annual planning retreat. Please complete the <br />following information, limited to the front and back of this form. Other <br />background materials may be provided as a supplement to, but not as a <br />substitute for, this form. <br />Board /Commission Name: Board of Adjustment <br />Person to address the BOCC at Retreat (if requested by BOCC) and contact <br />information: <br />Craig Benedict, Planning Director <br />Primary County Staff Contact(s): <br />Michael D. Harvey, Current Planning Supervisor — Primary Staff liaison <br />Debra Graham — Administrative Assistant/Secretary to the Board of Adjustment <br />How many times per month does this board /commission meet, including <br />any. special meetings and sub - committee meetings? <br />The Board of Adjustment meets, as needed, the second Monday of each month <br />at 7:30 p.m. at the West Campus Office building (i.e. the Planning Department). <br />Brief Statement of Board /Commission's Assigned Charge and <br />Responsibilities. <br />• Review and take action on variance applications <br />• Review and take action on Class B Special Use Permit applications <br />• Review and take action on appeals of decisions rendered by the Planning <br />Department <br />What are your Board /Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />Their most important accomplishment is the members continuous dispassionate <br />review of applications and adherence to established rules of procedure with <br />respect to the presentation of evidence and interpretation of the Ordinance in <br />order to render competent decisions and avoid the overturning of said decisions <br />by Superior Court in the event on an appeal. <br />
