(b) Work with City of Durham on: Economic Development Districts. • The HPC's work with the Hillsborough HDC regarding the handling of historic sites located in the Town's ETJ speaks to Priority 7. Goal Five: Create, preserve, and protect a natural environment that includes clean water, clean air, wildlife, important natural lands and sustainable energy for present and future generations. Priority 15: Complete stewardship and management plans for Lands Legacy. • The HPC has been actively involved in the stabilization of the historic buildings at the County's future park sites and, when asked, has offered suggestions on potential new uses for buildings that outlived their original purpose. Conduct public education campaign; and Link public with opportunities to improve energy efficiency and use sustainable energy sources. • For the last two years, the focus of the HPC's Last Friday's booth during preservation month has been historic preservation and green building, including information on how to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings in a way that retains their historic significance.
