Please complete the following <br />information, limited to the front and back of this form. Brief Statement of Board /Commission's Assigned Charge and <br />Responsibilities. <br />The purpose of the Orange County Economic Development Commission is to make <br />Orange County a smart, innovative place —a great place in which to live and work. <br />We encourage public - private investments to provide jobs for county residents and to <br />increase the non - residential tax base. Through these investments, we enhance the <br />financial well -being and quality of life of county residents, and the ability of their <br />local governments to provide high- quality services. <br />3. What are your Board /Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />• Established working relationship between EDC and UNC's Department of City <br />and Regional Planning (DCRP) <br />• Submitted original position papers written by students from the Urban and <br />Regional Development Seminar (PL773) under the direction of Dr. <br />Meenu Tewari , Associate Professor, DCRP. <br />• Engaged DCRP Workshop to explore UNC research and development <br />funding and spin -off activity relative to Orange County's goal of capturing <br />and retaining local start-ups <br />
