Orange County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board • Overview: o The five members of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board are appointed by the BOCC. Normally, members are appointed to serve an initial three -year term; and may be re- appointed for an additional three -year term. o The Board's authority, specific responsibilities and applicable regulations regarding operation of the ABC System are mandated by NC General Statutes and rules of the North Carolina ABC Commission. Recently, House Bill 1717 was signed by the governor and effective 10/1/2010, many changes are taking place within the state ABC systems. o Board meetings must abide by the NC Public Meeting Laws. Construction projects and major purchases are governed by State laws. o The BOCC determines the stipend amount for the ABC Board members; currently $75 per month for members and $125 per month for the Chair regardless of the number of meetings required, preparatory time, or meeting time. The stipends are funded and paid by the ABC system. o Website: orange.ncabc.com (a prefix is not required or allowed). Operations: o Facilities: ABC stores: eight retail stores and two "Liquor -by- the - Drink" (LBD) locations which serve ABC permit holders such as restaurants, hotels, bars in Northern and Southern Orange County. Main Office /Distribution Complex (Hillsborough). o Personnel Head- count/tumover: ■ Full -time employees — 30 currently employed. ■ Part-time employees — varies by season from 9 — 12. ■ Full -time turnover ratio for the 2009 calendar year: 3.23 %. o Earnings of top -five paid employees & related positions(includes all types of pay) for calendar year 2009: ■ General Manager $83,667 ■ Sales & Operations Manager $52,398 ■ Store Manager $52,265 ■ Purchasing & Warehouse Manager $51,562 ■ Accounting & Administrative Manager $50,142 (Note: General Manager resigned 3/31/2010, the new General Manager was hired 10/11/2010 with starting salary of $72,000.)
