(The Element Lead Advisory Boards include: Planning Board, EDC, OUTBoard, Commission for the Environment, Historic Preservation Commission, Agriculture Preservation Board, Affordable Housing Board, Recreation and Parks Advisory Council) • The APB provided extensive input into DEAPR staff's development of the Natural and Cultural Systems Element of the Comprehensive Plan — specifically the chapter on Agriculture. Objective AG -5: Teach the next generation about farming, support apprentice options, and promote the pursuit of farming as an occupation. • APB members participated in a new afternoon session for the annual Agricultural Summit geared toward helping new farmers understand the business component of farming. • Questions in the Agricultural Survey focused on teaching young farmers through internships and mentorships. Objective AGA : Recognize and support the right to farm. Protect farm operations from incompatible adjacent land uses or activities that will adversely affect the long -term agricultural investment in land and improvements, and Objective AG-4: Minimize the negative impacts of future public projects on farming operations and productive farmland.
