List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. <br />• Review and make recommendations on the form of the Voluntary Farmland Preservation <br />Program Ordinance (VFPO), and amendments <br />• Review and make recommendations concerning the establishment of VADs and EVADS <br />• Implement the Objectives in the Agricultural Chapter of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan <br />• Implement the Action Strategies in the Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan <br />• Assist in the planning process for the annual Agricultural Summit <br />• Advise the Board of County Commissioners on projects, programs or issues affecting <br />the agricultural economy or activities with the County that will affect agricultural districts <br />• Perform other related tasks or duties assigned by the Board of County Commissioners <br />Describe this board /commission's activities /accomplishments in carrying out <br />BOCC goal(s) /priorities, if applicable. <br />• Prepared the Orange County Agricultural Development and Farmland Protection Plan <br />• Amended VFPO to allow for the creation of EVADS <br />• Offered recommendations to the Lands Legacy Action Plan <br />• Implemented objectives in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan that pertain to agriculture <br />If your board /commission played the role of an Element Lead Advisory Board involved in <br />the 2030 Comprehensive Plan preparation process, please indicate your board's <br />activities /accomplishments as they may relate to the Comprehensive Plan's goals or <br />objectives. <br />(The Element Lead Advisory Boards include: Planning Board, EDC, OUTBoard, Commission for <br />the Environment, Historic Preservation Commission, Agriculture Preservation Board, Affordable <br />Housing Board, Recreation and Parks Advisory Council) <br />• The APB provided extensive input into DEAPR staff's development of the Natural and <br />Cultural Systems Element of the Comprehensive Plan — specifically the chapter on <br />Agriculture. <br />Objective AG -5: <br />Teach the next generation about farming, support apprentice options, and promote the <br />pursuit of farming as an occupation. <br />• APB members participated in a new afternoon session for the annual Agricultural <br />Summit geared toward helping new farmers understand the business component of <br />farming. <br />• Questions in the Agricultural Survey focused on teaching young farmers through <br />internships and mentorships. <br />Objective AGA : <br />Recognize and support the right to farm. Protect farm operations from incompatible <br />adjacent land uses or activities that will adversely affect the long -term agricultural <br />investment in land and improvements, and <br />Objective AG-4: <br />Minimize the negative impacts of future public projects on farming operations and productive <br />farmland. Conduct public review of projects proposed by entities that have the power of <br />APB Reporting Form 2010 <br />-2- <br />
