5. The Department of Social Services has received an additional $3,578 in the FY 10-11
allocation of Home Community Care Block Grant funds through Triangle J Council of
Governments (TJCOG). The department plans to use these funds to pay for services
for the elderly to avoid institutional placement.
This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds for the above
stated purposes. (See Attachment 1, Column 4)
Library Services
6. Library Services has received donations of $20,000 from the Friends of the Orange
County Main Library and $3,000 from the Friends of the Carrboro Branch Library. The
department plans to use these funds to purchase shelving end panels, additional chairs
for seating and meeting room equipment, as well as purchase "Kindles" to provide
patrons access to this new technology at the Main Library, and to enhance the materials
budget at the Carrboro Library. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of
these donated funds for the above stated purposes. (See Attachment 1, Column 5)
Department of Environment, Agriculture, and Parks and Recreation (DEAPR)
7. At its October 19, 2010 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved the
relocation of the Parks Operation Base from the current leased space at 503
Cornerstone Court in Hillsborough to the future Millhouse Road Park property. Funds
for the stabilization and up-fit of the house and barn, for conversion to a Parks
Operations Base, will come from previously approved funding within the Blackwood
Farm Capital Project, as well as savings generated due to the termination of the current
lease at 503 Cornerstone Court, effective December 31, 2010. With these transferred
funds, as well as funds currently available within the Millhouse Road Park project, there
are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the Parks Operations Base. This budget
amendment provides for the transfer of previously budgeted funds of $14,500 from the
Blackwood Farm Capital Project, and $11,590 from Building Rental within the DEAPR's
General Fund account to the Millhouse Road Park Capital Project (See Attachment 1,
Column 6), and amends the capital projects as follows:
Blackwood Farm: (Project # 20000)
Revenues for this project:
FY 2010-11
Current Bud et FY 2010-11
Amendment FY 2010-11
Revised
Blackwood Farm $2,451,935 $14,500 $2,437,435
Total Project Fundin $2,451,935 $14,500 $2,437,435
Appropriated for this project:
FY 2010-11
Current Bud et FY 2010-11
Amendment FY 2010-11
Revised
Blackwood Farm $2,451,935 $14,500 $2,437,435
Total Costs $2,451,935 $14,500 $2,437,435
