ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: January 20, 2011 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. ~{- - K <br />SUBJECT: Orange County Landfill Engineering Services Agreement <br />DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Proposed Landfill Engineering Services <br />Agreement Addendum <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Gayle Wilson, Solid Waste Director, <br />968-2885 <br />Willie Best, Assistant County Manager, <br />245-2308 <br />PURPOSE: To approve an addendum to the existing agreement for general engineering and <br />environmental services for the Solid Waste Department with Draper Aden Associates for <br />professional engineering services for three additional years through January 19, 2014. <br />BACKGROUND: Draper Aden Associates have been providing consulting services at the <br />Orange County Landfill since 1991. Ongoing services will include: <br />• The preparation of three (3) semiannual detection monitoring reports summarizing the <br />chemical analyses of the groundwater. The reports cover groundwater at both the closed <br />Municipal Solid Waste and Construction and Demolition landfill, the active lined Municipal <br />Solid Waste landfill and the current Construction and Demolition landfill. These reports are <br />forwarded to the Division of Solid Waste Management. <br />• The oversight of methane gas well monitoring and provide consulting services as necessary <br />in this area of required monitoring. <br />• General engineering consulting services. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Sufficient funds to cover anticipated expenditures are available in the <br />current fiscal year 2010-2011 budget in the Solid Waste Department. The projected expense for <br />FY2010-2011 is $180,000-185,000. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the agreement <br />addendum with Draper Aden and Associates Inc. for engineering services for the Solid Waste <br />Management Department and authorize the Chair to sign the Agreement. <br />
