PARCEL 6 <br />DESCRIPTION <br />Acres: 38 <br />Landcover Type: Riparian Forest Buffer <br />Dominant Species Present: Yellow poplar, red oak, white oak, hickory, loblolly <br />pine, shortleaf pine, sweetgum and maple <br />Understory Species: Red maple, dogwood, sweetgum, eastern hop <br />hornbeam, beech, and holly. <br />Topography: Gently sloping (2 to 6 percent slopes) <br />Parcel History: This is the forested buffer adjacent to the drainages and the <br />forested buffer around the edge of the reservoir. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Maintain as a riparian forest buffer. No timber production or significant harvesting <br />should be planned for this riparian forest buffer area in the future. Instead, it <br />should be managed to maximize its potential for water quality protection and <br />wildlife habitat. <br />During future thinnings and harvests these riparian buffer areas should be flagged <br />out prior to any active management activities. <br />OWASA-Peninsula North Page 7 <br />
