644 <br />Commissioners that the members of the Eno Fire Department be <br />commended for their diligence and commitment in providing <br />personnel, divers, boats and other equipment which ultimately led <br />them to find the drowning victim. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />VI. ITEMS FOR DECISION - CONSENT AGENDA <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner <br />Insko to approve those items on the Consent Agenda as stated below: <br />A. EXTENSION OF THE MUTUAL AID COMPACT FOR PATER SUPPLY EMERGENCIES <br />The Board approved and authorized the Chair to sign an amendment <br />to the Mutual Aid Compact for Water Supply Emergencies which will extend that <br />Compact for an additional five years effective January 1,_ 1994. The amendment <br />is stated below: <br />AMENDMENT TO THE MUTUAL AID COMPACT <br />A JOINT RESOLUTION <br />ESTABLISHING COMMON LOCAL POLICIES FOR MUTUAL AID <br />DURING WATER SUPPLY EMERGENCIES IN REGION J, NORTH CAROLINA <br />WHEREAS in 1988, 29 local governments in the Triangle legion endorsed a <br />.mutual aid compact for water emergencies to address temporary disruptions <br />caused by failure of the water supply, treatment or distribution systems of <br />any of the parties; <br />WHEREAS the period of agreement for the Mutual Aid Compact is December 1, <br />1988'to December 1, 1993 but may be extended upon mutual agreement of the <br />parties; and <br />WHEREAS utility infrastructure with sufficient capacity and reliability <br />continues to be essential to the Region's high quality of life and economic <br />strength. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the undersigned parties have agreed to extend the Mutual <br />Aid Compact. This joint Resolution shall become effective January 1, 1994, <br />and continue for a period of 5 years therefrom. <br />This joint Resolution may be extended upon mutual agreement of the parties. <br />B. MINUTES <br />The Board approved the minutes as presented and corrected for <br />the October 19, 1993 regular meeting, November 1, 1993 regular meeting, <br />November 4, 1993 special meeting and the November 9, 1993 special meeting. <br />C. APPOINTMENTS <br />The Board approved the following appointments: <br />NURSING HOME COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />Nora Mellot, new appointment expiring December 30, 1994 <br />Bill Thornton, new appointment expiring December 30, 1994
