BOARD COMMENTS <br />Chair Carey announced. that Commissioners Insko and Willhoit have <br />volunteered to serve on the Small Area Planning Committee with the Town of <br />Hillsborough for that area on old NC 86 between 1-88 and 1-40 south of <br />Hillsborough. <br />Commissioner Gordon explained to those in the audience that the County <br />Commissioners do listen to citizens. That is why it may seem to take a long <br />time for the Board to make a decision on specific items. She explained the <br />process usually begins with an advisory board and may be an issue which is <br />complex and may take two or three years of study before it reaches the Board. <br />The Board has the responsibility of looking at the entire proposal or issue <br />in the context of the entire County and doing an analysis or evaluation before <br />voting on the issue. <br />Chair Carey agreed that the Board is doing a great job for the citizens <br />of Orange County. <br />IV. COUNTY MANAGER'S REPORT - NONE <br />V. PROCLAMATIONSIRESOLUTIONS <br />A. RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION FOR THE ENO FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by., <br />Commissioner Willhoit to approve the Resolution of Appreciation for the Er,"' <br />Fire Department as stated below: <br />A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />COMMENDING THE ENO FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE <br />TO THE <br />ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, on September 12,-1993 at 6:30 p.m. the orange-County Sheriff's <br />Department responded to a possible drowning at the Rock Quarry on <br />Laurel Ridge Road, and <br />WHEREAS, the Eno Fire Department also responded and assisted in the search <br />until late that evening, and <br />WHEREAS, at 7:00 a.m. the following day, the search was continued by both <br />the orange County Sheriff's Department and the Eno Fire Department, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the search continued for fourteen days without finding anything, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Department, assisted by the Eno Fire Department, <br />checked the quarry an additional nineteen days until the victim wa, <br />found on Sunday, October 17 by divers from Henderson County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of
