The 2001 Parks and Open Space <br />Bond included park facility projects in all of the different municipalities, with Fairview Park <br />identified in Hillsborough. <br />A Fairview Park Master Plan Committee with representatives from both Town and County <br />boards worked to develop a master plan for the park, and the County and Town sought to <br />augment available funds with a grant from the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF). <br />A PARTF grant jointly submitted by the Town and County in the amount of $500,000 was <br />awarded in summer 2009, and a bid for construction of the park was solicited and awarded in <br />late 2009. A Conditional Use Permit application was developed and later approved by the <br />Town Board of Adjustment. <br />Both County and Town budgets include funds for Fairview Park -the Town's adopted FY 2010- <br />11 budget includes an approved $30,000 contribution earmarked to Fairview Park operations <br />(see attached excerpt).
