Foushee, and Commissioners Alice <br /> M. Gordon, Barry Jacobs, Pam Hemminger, Bernadette Pelissier, and Steve Yuhasz <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Mike Nelson <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Frank Clifton, Assistant County Managers Willie <br /> Best and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna S. Baker (All other staff members will be <br /> identified appropriately below) <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Tony McKnight <br /> and Board Members Donna Coffey, Eddie Eubanks, Anne Medenbleck, and Debbie Piscitelli, <br /> and Superintendent Patrick Rhodes was also present. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS ABSENT: Brenda Stephens and <br /> Steve Halkiotis <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS <br /> PRESENT: Chair Mike Kelly, Vice-Chair Jamezetta Bedford, and Board Members Mia Day <br /> Burroughs, Gregory McElveen, Michelle Brownstein, and Annetta Streater, and Superintendent <br /> Neil Pedersen was also present. <br /> CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO CITY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS ABSENT: <br /> Introductions were made. <br /> 1. Overview of the Article 46 (One-Quarter cent) Sales Tax Referendum <br /> Education Strategy <br /> Frank Clifton said that at the end of the discussion it would be appropriate for the County <br /> Commissioners to indicate on what basis the funding will be obligated for the school systems to <br /> clarify any misconceptions. <br /> Assistant County Manager Gwen Harvey said that an internal team is working on the <br /> referendum. This is comprised of the County Manager, two Assistant County Managers, <br /> Financial Services Director, Deputy Financial Services Director, Deputy Clerk to the Board, <br /> Chief Information Officer, County Attorney, and department directors who are mostly impacted <br /> as far as County government support— EMS Director, Library Services Director, and Economic <br /> Development Director. This team has met through the past few weeks and they have engaged <br /> the Jennings Firm to assist them with this education campaign. It will be a multi-faceted <br /> campaign and they are all working diligently to educate the public on this '/4-cent sales tax <br /> referendum. She asked that everyone avail themselves to engage with civic groups, write <br />
