19 <br /> County Commissioners expressed a desire for the Human Relations Commission and <br /> Commission for Women to unite in a collaborative effort focusing on common issues. <br /> Currently,there aze 15 listed members of the Human Relations Commission and 9 listed . <br /> members of the Commission for Women. County Commissioners would like to see <br /> members of t,he Human Relations Commission and Commission for Women come <br /> together in to address the needs of both groups in an effective manner. Dr. Fikes, <br /> Director of Housing and Commuuity Development is available to be of assistance in <br /> evaluating important elements and interests the two separate groups have iri common that <br /> can be united in a manner to facilitate improvements. - <br /> A key element of that effort may be outreach to other groups outside the County's <br /> governmental framework growing new partnerships that link common interests. It is . <br /> hoped tlxe members of both advisory boazds see this apporh�nity worthy of pursuit <br /> County Commissioners seek your input and ask each group to work together to analyze <br /> options and provide feedback. County Commissioners remai.n committed to issues that <br /> both the Human Relations Commission and Commission for Women ha.ve pursued in the <br /> past. The County will soon consider the adoption of a "Social Justice Goal <br /> Implementation Plan". <br /> Within the framework af budget constraints and staffing li.mitations, the role of advisory <br /> . boards and commissions must depend more heavily upon the efforts and commitment of <br /> individual volunteers like y,ou. � <br /> What comes forth from your discussions will be considered by County Commissioners as <br /> they formulate vlti.ma.te decisions regarding the number,type and size for advisory boards <br /> and commissions for Orange County.
