Outside Agency Descriptions -continued 5 <br />• <br />Child Care Services Association <br />$18,285 <br />• <br />The Child Care Services Association seeks to ensure that affordable (no more than 10% of a <br />family's gross earning are used to purchase childcare for one child), accessible, high quality <br />childcare is available for all young children and their families. <br />Club Nova <br />$75,000 <br />The mission of Club Nova is to serve adults in Orange County living with severe and persistent <br />mental illness and provide them with structured daily activities, as well as social, vocational and <br />residential opportunities that they would not otherwise have. <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County $45,000 <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC} is a "stay-in-school" program that <br />coordinates human services delivery to middle school and high school youth and their families. <br />The goal of the agency is to offer students successful learning environments and encourage <br />them to stay in school and prepare for life. <br />Disability Awareness Council <br />$2,500 <br />The Orange County Disability Awareness Council offers educational and advocacy projects to <br />promote opportunities for persons with disabilities to work and live in an environment free of <br />architectural, attitudinal, economic, structural, and societal barriers. <br />Dispute Settlement Center <br />$16,000 <br />This agency promotes and brings about peaceful settlement of disputes and prevents the <br />escalation of conflict through mediation, facilitation, conciliation, and training. This agency <br />receives a county match through the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) program. <br />EI Centro Hispano * $15,000 <br />EI Centro Hispano is a grassroots community-based organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino <br />community and improving the quality of life of Latino residents in Durham, North Carolina, and the <br />surrounding area. With the opening of the Carrboro office of EI Centro Hispano, this mission will be <br />able to include Orange County, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. <br />EI Futuro <br />$20,000 <br />EI Futuro addresses the behavioral health needs of North Carolina's Latino community by <br />promoting behavioral health awareness, enhancing existing services, and developing a model <br />clinic. <br />EmPOWERment, Inc. $13,000 <br />The mission of EmPOWERment, Inc. is to emPOWER people and communities to control their <br />own destinies through affordable housing, advocacy, community organizing and grassroots <br />economic development. <br />• <br />
