Pi4F /0/,4 17010 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> HONORING THE COMMUNITY SCHOOL FOR PEOPLE UNDER SIX <br /> ON ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY <br /> WHEREAS, the Community School for People under Six was originally <br /> established in September 1970 as a parent/staff cooperative; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Community School for People under Six is a non-profit, 5 star <br /> licensed, NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) <br /> accredited child care center with a multicultural community-based philosophy; <br /> and serves children and families in Chapel Hill and the surrounding area; and <br /> WHEREAS, the mission of the School is to provide high quality early care and <br /> education for all children, specifically low and middle income families; and <br /> WHEREAS, the school promotes cultural, racial, gender and socioeconomic <br /> diversity among families, staff and board directors; and <br /> WHEREAS, these teachers and others who make a difference in the lives of <br /> young children in Orange County deserve thanks and recognition; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Community School for People under Six will be celebrating a <br /> 40th anniversary milestone on October 25, 2011; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners, do hereby adopt this Proclamation honoring the Community <br /> School for People under Six for its outstanding contribution to the early childhood <br /> education of so many young people in Orange County over the past 40 years. <br /> This the 19th day of October 2010. <br /> Valerie P.
