Major Modifications. Major modifications listed below require a <br />Certificate of Appropriateness approved by the Historic Preservation <br />Commission. These activities are examples of building alterations, site <br />changes, new construction or demolition which require a Certificate of <br />Appropriateness. <br />a. Exterior changes to the primary building or other structures on <br />the property, not included in the normal maintenance and minor <br />improvements list. Such changes include types or styles of <br />windows, doors, porches, decks, roofs, and lighting fixtures. <br />b. Alterations in exterior architectural details, such as additions or <br />changes in style of porch railings, gutters, shutters, brackets, <br />molding, gingerbread or other decorative work. <br />Removal and/or severe pruning of healthy plant materials as well <br />as the installation of new plant material which alters the character <br />of the site. <br />d. The installation on any structure, of vinyl or aluminum siding or <br />of any other siding, of a different style or material than the <br />existing siding. <br />e. The disturbance of designated archaeological sites. <br />f. The construction of any addition to an existing structure; such as <br />the addition of rooms, chimneys, porches, decks, ramps, solar <br />panels, and skylights, or any new construction. <br />g. The construction or placement of any outbuilding on the <br />property, including carports, garages, utility sheds, barns, silos, <br />drying sheds, and bulk barns. <br />h. New construction or relocation of a primary structure. <br />The placement or construction of any yard fixtures such as lamp <br />posts or other lighting fixtures, walkways, fences or walls, <br />16 <br />
