Repairs to walks, patios, fences and driveways as long as <br />replacement materials match the existing materials. <br />h. Replacement of small amounts of missing or deteriorated siding, <br />trim, roof shingles, porch flooring, steps, gutters and down <br />spouts, etc., as long as the replacement materials matches the <br />existing materials. <br />11.2. Minor Improvements. Minor improvements to structures require <br />Certificates of Appropriateness. The following activities are considered <br />by the Historic Preservation Commission to be minor modifications, as <br />long as they do not have a significant impact on the exterior appearance <br />of the historic structures. The Department of Environment, Agriculture, <br />Parks and Recreation is responsible for issuing Certificates of <br />Appropriateness for the following types of work: <br />a. Installation of storm windows and doors. <br />b. Side and rear yard fences and walls not facing a public street. <br />C. Installation of exterior mechanical equipment such as roof fans, <br />heat pumps, and air compressors. <br />d. Repairs to walls, patios, fences, and driveways as long as <br />replacement matches what presently exists. <br />e. Foundation repairs, including vents and access doors. <br />Replacement of exterior stairs, landings, and steps. <br />g. Replacement of large amounts of missing or deteriorated siding, <br />trim, porch floors, windows, and gutters or architectural details <br />when there is no change in materials and design of original. <br />h. Re- pointing and other masonry repairs. <br />L Exterior lighting fixtures. <br />Removal of asbestos or other artificial siding. <br />k. Signs, other than real estate and political. <br />1.
