095 <br />Chapter 160A of the North Carolina General Statutes pertaining to interlocal <br />cooperation, the Hyconeechee Regional Library Board of Trustees, and the <br />Board of Commissioners of Person, Orange and Caswell counties, do hereby <br />mutually adopt and consent to the aforesaid proclamation of responsibility, <br />to be exercised in a spirit of cooperation and reciprocity. <br />NOTE: THIS RESOLUTION WILL BE SIGNED BY Person, Orange and Caswell counties <br />as well as the Hyconeechee Regional Library Board of Trustees. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />B. ORANGE COUNTY AIDS ACTION DAY RESOLUTION <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Chair <br />Carey to adopt and authorize the chair to sign the proposed resolution as <br />stated below declaring October 24, 1992 as Orange County AIDS Action Day. <br />ORANGE COUNTY AIDS ACTION DAY <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, UNC Hospitals' Clinical Trials Unit serves AIDS patients from all <br />over North Carolina, and <br />WHEREAS, the entire Orange County community faces a special challenge to meet <br />the needs of people living with AIDS, and <br />WHEREAS, the problem of homelessness among this population presents serious <br />risk to the successful management of their illness, and <br />WHEREAS, meeting the need for appropriate housing for people with AIDS is in <br />the best interest of all orange County residents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange County Board of Commissioners resolves to observe <br />Saturday, October 24, 1992 as ORANGE COUNTY AIDS ACTION DAY. In support of <br />the efforts AIDS Service Agency, Incorporated, the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners recognizes this agency's proposed housing project as the <br />nucleus of Orange County's community-based.effort to meet this need. <br />Further, we call on the citizens of Orange County to participate in this <br />effort by whatever means they are able. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS . <br />V. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />A. JOBS AWARD RECOGNITION <br />Chair Carey recognized the Department of Social Services for an <br />award they received for outstanding performance in the JOBS program during <br />Fiscal Year 1991-92. Those in attendance to be recognized were Marti Pryor- <br />Cook, Gwenn Price, Lisa Hooks, Cora Strickland, and Kathleen Goodman. He <br />outlined some of the achievements of this program. Eleven (11) AFDC <br />recipients have gained full-time employment,"24 have completed high school <br />requirements and seven (7) have completed skills training. Currently there <br />are 101 families enrolled in the program. <br />VII. REPORTS <br />A. FIRE INSPECTION PROGRAM
