Evaluation Plans. Outcomes, and Effectiveness of the Program <br />The modernization of the radio communications system in the 9-1-1 Center will <br />enhance the county's crime prevention efforts by facilitating the rnor~e rapid <br />communication of law enforcement officers to communicate with one another, <br />other emergency responders, and the 9-1-1 Center. The system will reduce the <br />wait time that law enfar~cement officers encounter when they wish to access a <br />telecommunicator to run a records check, to request assistance, and to call for <br />help . <br />The telecommunicator• will be able to notify other emergency responders to assist <br />law enforcement in crime response and prevention efforts. <br />This will potentially result in a reduction of crime thorough more expedient <br />notif cation of law enfor•cexnent personnel, better' sharing of information amongst <br />personnel, and faster clearance of crimes due to better information.. <br />E, Current/ Planned Community Policing And Crime Prevention Activities <br />the project will improve our• agency's ability to assist the law enforcement <br />agencies' efforts in preventing crime through the better and faster sharing of <br />information. <br />The law enforcement agencies will be better prepared with information on <br />suspects and will be able to reduce potential crime throughout the county through <br />easier sharing of information amongst disparate agencies,. <br />The crime prevention activities also extend to special events coverage. Halloween <br />annually brings over 40,000 people to Franklin Sir•eet in Chapel Hill which is a <br />very small area. Further, Orange County is home to the University of'North <br />Carolina at Chapel Hill which has a winning athletics department.. Athletic events <br />
