16 <br />55)* Support legislation that, should a previously proposed <br />bill resurface pertaining to the prevention and <br />disposition of unwanted and abandoned animals, that <br />language be inserted that provides a definition of <br />"adequate shelter" for responsible animal ownership and <br />protection similar to that contained in the Orange <br />County Animal Control Ordinance, which references <br />criteria such.as: the need to be wind and water proof, <br />construction requirements (four walls, a solid floor and <br />a roof), appropriate sizing of house and entrance, <br />elevation off the ground, location from wind, direct <br />sun, healthful temperature, need to provide appropriate <br />bedding, containment area free of waste and debris, and <br />drainage; <br />56)** Support the adoption of a comprehensive hate crimes <br />law for North Carolina similar to those found in many <br />other states; <br />57)** Oppose Senate Bill 8, House Bill 55, or any <br />comparable bill purporting to effect marriages, civil <br />unions, domestic partnerships, or similar relationships <br />in North Carolina; <br />16 <br />
