While it . � ' <br /> 7 can be difficult to bring older fixtures up to current ' <br /> s code requirements, it can also be difficult to ; <br /> 9 introduce new fixtures or to supplement existing :. ; � � ����{� <br /> 10 units to provide more lighting in a sensitive u�' �� ��f ' � <br /> �� manner. �� ni : - - - � <br /> 12 _�`� -��__ � � - <br /> �3 When selecting new lighting fixtures chose simple �, �--� �� " <br /> t4 visually compatibie designs that do not detract or " �' <br /> � :� �-.a . '�� ;;; <br /> 15 distract from the landmark property. Consider <br /> 16 period fixtures only if they are consistent with the landmark's architectural character. <br /> 17 Do not install antique or new (vintage design) lamps that predate the site. Select <br /> 18 fixtures that provide the least amount of light needed. Avoid excessive wattage and <br /> 19 lamps that scatter light over a large area. Use time controlled units such as timers <br /> 20 or motion detector fixtures whenever possible. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 <br /> 23 DESIGN STANDARDS for Exterior Lighting <br /> 24 <br /> 25 II-G-1. Retain and preserve exterior lighting fixtures that contribute to the overall historic <br /> 26 character of the site. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 II-G-2. Replace damaged, deteriorated, or missing exterior lighting fixtures with new <br /> 29 fixtures that are either similar to the original in material, appearance, detail, and <br /> 3o scale or compatible with the historic landmark and site in material, appearance, and <br /> 31 scale (particularly the main dwelling). <br /> 32 <br /> 33 II-G-3.
