State Historic Preservation Office as <br /> 6 having statewide significance as defined in the criteria of the National Register of <br /> 7 Historic Places may be denied except where the Commission finds that the owner would <br /> 8 suffer extreme hardship or be permanently deprived of all beneficial use or return by <br /> 9 virtue of the denial. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Article 6.Remedies and Legal Status Provisions <br /> 13 Amended <br /> 14 8/8/1994 <br /> 15 [v�� <br /> 16 Section 6.1 Remedies <br /> 17 <br /> 18 In case any building, structure, site, area or object designated as a landmark or within a- � <br /> 19 historic district is about to be demolished, whether as a result of deliberate neglect or otherwise, � <br /> 2 0 materially altered, remodeled, removed or destroyed, except in compliance with this Oerdinance, � <br /> 21 the Board of Commissioners or the Commission,with the approval of the Board of <br /> 2 2 Commissioners,may institute any appropriate action or proceeding to prevent such unlawful <br /> 2 3 demolition, destruction, material alteration, remodeling or removal; to restrain, correct or abate <br /> 2 4 such violation; or to prevent any illegal act or conduct with respect to such a building, structure, <br /> 2 5 site, area or object. Such remedies shall be in addition to any others authorized by Article 6, <br /> 2 6 Chapter 153A of the North Carolina General Statutes, G.S. $ 153A-123�os�for violation of a <br /> 2 7 county ordinance. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 3 0 Section 6.2 Conflict with other Laws <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Whenever this Oerdinance or any ordinance adopted pursuant to Part 3C of Article 19 of � <br /> 3 3 Chapter 160A of the North Carolina General Statutes requires a longer waiting period or imposes <br /> 3 4 other higher standards with respect to a designated historic landmark or district than are <br /> 3 5 established under any other statute, charter provision or regulation, the provisions of this <br /> 3 6 Oerdinance shall apply.
