Orange County NC Website
1) A listing of all telecommunications
towers within a 1 -mile (for towers 150
feet in height or shorter or 2 -miles (for
towers greater than 150 feet in height)
radius of the proposed tower site.
Documents shall be submitted at the
time of application filing that indicate
the applicant's ability or inability to co-
locate on the identified tower(s) and
reasons why.
_Yes N
0
2) Delineation of the boundaries of the _Yes N
maximum search range within which X N/A o
the telecommunication equipment can
function as intended. The following
information shall be provided for all
existing towers within the search
range:
(a) Tower height, as measured from XYes N
the base of the tower to the highest o
point of the proposed antenna,
including lighting rods, to be located
atop the tower structure;
(b) Existing and planned tower users; XYes N
0
(c)Whether the existing XYes N
telecommunication tower could o
accommodate the antenna to be
attached to the proposed tower without
causing structural instability or radio
frequency interference; and
There are six telecommunication
towers within two miles of the PEMC
site. They area:
1. 15T monopole on Old NC 10,
2. 160'guyed tower on NC 86,
3. 178' monopole in Hillsborough,
4. 160' monopole on Landau Dr.
5. 254' lattice tower on New Hope
Church Road, and
6. 180' monopole on Palmers
Grove Church Road.
A radio propagation study included
these tower sites. Because of
terrain, coverage is not concentric.
The best coverage for PEMC is the
proposed 350' tower. Each of the
existing tower sites listed have
coverage deficiencies that would
have a sever impact on the radio
coverage PEMC requires due to
structure height, antenna height,
ground elevations, and terrain
features.
The PEMC radio system is a
trunked, two-way VHR system and
does not .utilize cellular technology.
PEMC requires a radio system that
will optimize existing frequency
spectrum and provide increased
voice channel capacity and data
functionality, This will require a
three tower system consisting of a
VHF trunked repeater equipment,
VHF top antenna, transmission line
for the VHF radio system, and
microwave dishes to interconnect
the three tower sites. The other two
towers are already installed in
Person and Caswell Counties.
The replacement tower height is 350
feet, which includes a 30 -foot
antenna mounted on top of the
structure.
Piedmont Electric system.
The applicant tower is designed to
allow up to five (5) co- locations.
Orange County systems will be
allowed free of charge and private
companies will be charged a fee.
26
26
