M•
Rusty Monroe: Primarily commercial use.
Michelle Kempinski: If they were'to co- locate, the other towers wouldn't be needed.
Rusty Monroe: The shortest range would be PCS service, which is about a two mile range.
Cellular can go three miles.
Michelle Kempinski: There are other towers today within that range.
Rusty Monroe: Piedmont looked at the other local structures, and they won't work for what
Piedmont is trying to do.
Jeffrey Schmitt: I recall that this is one of three towers for Piedmont as an integrated part of an
entire system. Do they all need to be done?
Robin Blanton: Yes, an integrated approach is necessary. If this were not done, the system
would not work.
Brian Crawford: There was a breakpoint built into the design, what is that?
Rusty Monroe: That is an example of over - design. The bottom is over - designed so that if the
tower is going to break, it will break at that point to get it to fall at a shorter range.
Brian Crawford: That would be within the range.
Rusty Monroe: Usually the facility will break and hang down. That is why we were concerned
about the design.
Jay Bryan: In terms of Homeland Security guidelines, is this in compliance for the County?
Rusty Monroe: It does meet the guidelines so that in the event of a disaster, service would be
uninterrupted or restored as rapidly as possible.
Jay Bryan: My main concern is if we will have to build another 350 foot tower. The height does
concern me.
Rusty Monroe: It concerned us too. A majority of the towers are usually not this tall. There
should be no need for another tower unless technology changes.
Michelle Kempinski: With regards to the County services, and not Piedmont's?
Rusty Monroe: Piedmont should not need any more.
Renee Price - Saunders: What percentage would be public versus private use?
Rusty Monroe: That is unknown, and that would be up to the providers.
Renee. Price - Saunders: Has the State Police expressed an interest to use the tower?
