ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION TO RECOGNIZE <br />DECEMBER 15, 2006 AS <br />BILL OF RIGHTS DAY IN ORANGE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, commonly known as the Bill of <br />Rights, were ratified on December 15, 1791; and' <br />WHEREAS, the Bill of Rights protects every person of this nation from infringement of basic <br />human and civil rights; and <br />WHEREAS, those rights include freedom of religion, of speech, of press, and to peacefully <br />assemble; and <br />WHEREAS, the right to privacy within one's home, free of searches and seizures in the absence <br />of probable cause or specific evidence of criminal behavior, should be upheld; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Orange County is committed to the human rights of its citizens and to actions that <br />both protect and preserve those rights; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Orange County Board of Commissioners does <br />hereby proclaim December 15, 2006 as Bill of Rights Day in Orange County. <br />This the 12th day of December 2006. <br />cG~~ C~G~`~. <br />Moses Carey, Jr. -Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
