POLICY FOR INSERTION INTO THE POLICY MANUAL <br />MEETING DATE: 12/04/2006 NUMBER: P:0430 <br />EFFECTIVE DATE: 12/04/2006 REVISIONS: <br />POLICY: Orange County Ethics and Conduct for <br />County Public Servant Policy <br />Article 1. <br />General Provisions. <br />Section 1. Title. <br />This Policy shall be known as the "Orange County Ethics and Conduct for County <br />Public Servant Policy". <br />Section 2. Purpose. <br />The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that elected and appointed Orange County <br />officials (including senior Orange County staff as articulated in this Policy) exercise their <br />authority honestly and fairly, free from impropriety, threats, favoritism, and undue <br />influence. To this end, it is the intent of the Orange County Board of Commissioners in <br />this Policy to ensure that standards of ethical conduct and standards regarding conflicts of <br />interest are clearly established for elected and appointed Orange County officials, that <br />Orange County educates these officials on matters of ethical conduct and conflicts of <br />interest and that violations of standards of ethical conduct and conflicts of interest are, to <br />the extent permitted by law, properly addressed. <br />Section 3. Definitions. <br />The following definitions apply in this Chapter: <br />(1) Board. -Any Orange County board, commission, council, committee, <br />task force, authority, or similar public body, however denominated, created by <br />statute or Orange County Board of Commissioner action, except for those public <br />bodies that have only advisory authority. <br />(2) Business. -Any of the following organized for profit: <br />a. Association. <br />b. Business trust. <br />c. Corporation. <br />d. Enterprise. <br />e. Joint venture. <br />£ Organization. <br />g. Partnership. <br />
