Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough NC 27278 <br />Dear Chair Foushee: <br />Subject: Board Appointment <br />The Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council (RPAC) reviewed all <br />applicants for the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council and recommends Kyle Kaplan <br />for the vacant Chapel Hill Town Limits position. Mr. Kaplan is a resident of Chapel Hill. <br />The criteria for this position are: <br />• A resident of the town of Chapel Hill <br />• An active interest in the development and improvement of recreational opportunities <br />and parks in Orange County <br />• Experience or training in recreational activities and/or <br />• Experience or training or demonstrated interest in parks <br />• Willingness to commit to active participation on the Council <br />In addition, the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council is committed to increasing the <br />diversity of Council members. <br />It is the feeling of the Council that Mr. Kaplan will provide valuable input as a member <br />because: <br />• Mr. Kaplan demonstrated his interest in the work of RPAC by applying for the <br />position and expressing continued interest over the telephone. <br />• He has worked in the schools as teacher and intern. <br />• He has served the community as a volunteer in various capacities including: the <br />Americorps program, Habitat for Humanity and the North Carolina Botanical <br />Gardens. <br />• He has earned a Master of Science in Sports Management, among other degrees <br />• We are attaching his full application for your review <br />Thank you for your consideration of Mr. Kaplan's nomination. <br />Sincerely, <br />Lori Taft <br />Parks and Recreation Director <br />
