The Orange County Animal Services Department has received a bequest of $13,768 <br />related to an estate closing. The department plans to use the funds for the purchase <br />and installation of a monument sign and wayfaring signage for the Animal Services <br />building. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these estate funds for the <br />above stated purposes. (See Attachment 1, column 4) <br />Sheriff Department <br />7. The Orange County Sheriff Department has received notification of a 2010 Justice <br />Assistance Grant (JAG) award from the U.S. Department of Justice totaling $23;151. <br />This grant award is a joint venture between Orange County and the Town of Chapel Hill. <br />For reporting purposes to the grantor, Orange County will serve as the fiscal agent, and <br />the town will provide the Sheriff's Department with copies of all invoices for their portion <br />($18,521) of the grant. The Town plans to use their funds to purchase Tasers and <br />specialized software for the Police Department, while the County plans to use its portion <br />($4,630) to support officer overtime costs incurred by the department.
