ORANGE COUNTY '
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: November 2, 2006
Action Agenda
Item No. ~_
SUBJECT: Duke Power Right of Way for Seymour Senior Center
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing and Central Services PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No
ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT:
Pam Jones (919) 245-2652
Right of Way Agreement
Resolute Building Company Letter
Line Location Map
PURPOSE: To consider approving a right of way agreement as requested by Duke Power for
power lines to be installed for the Seymour Senior Center on the Human Services Campus on
Homestead Road, Chapel Hill.
BACKGROUND: Duke Power, in partnership with Resolute Building Company (RBC), will be
installing certain underground power transmission lines from Homestead Road to the Seymour
Senior Center facility and parking areas. Per the attached letter, RBC will dig the ditches into
which the underground lines will be placed. A map reflecting the location of lines is attached.
Duke Power has requested that the County grant a 10' easement on each side of the installed
lines.
Note that there are no trees within the area that the service will be installed.
A 12-week lead-time is associated with the installation of the lighting, including the eight weeks
required for delivery of the transformer.
The Center is scheduled for completion in March 2007.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with granting this request.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the right of way
agreement with Duke Power for underground power lines at the Seymour Senior Center; and
authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board.
