Administration <br />A. Authority <br />Orange County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on <br />August 22, 2006 to remain a standard county. The Orange County <br />Department of Social Services will have the authority for administration of the <br />Work First Program. <br />B. Organization <br />A copy of the Orange County DSS organizational chart has been attached to <br />this document (Attachment 2). The Program Manager has primary oversight <br />for the Work First Program. The Program Manager reports to the Economic <br />Services Director. The main office for the Department of Social Services is <br />located at 300 W. Tryon Street in Hillsborough, the county seat. Services are <br />also available through our satellite office at 2501 Homestead Road in Chapel <br />Hill. A number of employment and training agencies, including Work First <br />and Employment Services, are co- located at the Orange County Skills <br />Development/JobLink Center. <br />A generic intake worker interviews Work First applicants when they appear at <br />either the Hillsborough or the Southern Orange Social Services office in <br />Chapel Hill. Their circumstances are assessed to determine whether diversion <br />assistance is appropriate or an application for ongoing assistance should be <br />
