14 <br />IV. Plans to Achieve the Outcomes and Goals <br />Activities and Supportive Services <br />A. Activities <br />Employment Strategies and Recommendations <br />Outcome: Develop opportunities for Work First participants to improve their <br />employability through subsidized and unsubsidized employment, on-the-job <br />training, work experience, job searches, job readiness and community services. <br />a. Build relationships with employers <br />b. Educate employers on tax incentives and on-the-job training <br />c. Develop a relationship with local employers to offer mock interview <br />sessions with Work First participants <br />d. Develop job readiness skill building program that addresses behavior, <br />communication, job seeking and job retention <br />e. Utilize former Work First participants as mentors and provide <br />opportunities for them to share their employment success stories <br />f. Implement on-the-job training program <br />g. Establish an incentive program for participants to encourage job <br />placement <br />h. Match skills and interest of participants with available job openings or <br />entrepreneurship <br />i. Develop more training opportunities for skill building to participants <br />through work experience <br />j. Develop more work experience sites <br />k. Create a mechanism for screening and assessing clients knowledge, skills <br />and abilities <br />1. Provide retention services for six months <br />a. Build partnerships with Chamber of Commerce, Department of Labor, Job <br />Link Center and Employment Security Commission working with TANF <br />eligible families <br />B. Supportive Services <br />Outcome: Provide training programs that will increase the employability of Work <br />First Participants and their ability to locate and maintain employment. <br />a. Develop a structured employment preparation program leading to a <br />certificate of completion <br />b. Offer vocational skills training to Work First participants <br />c. Continue faith community partnering program <br />d. Collaborate with Wheels for Work and driver's training program <br />e. Collaborate with community agencies and make referrals as appropriate <br />f. Develop job coaching and mentoring programs for hard to place <br />participants <br />
