Department on Aging <br />2. The Department on Aging has received additional Medicaid -Community Alternatives <br />Program (CAP) funds of $5,877. The department plans to use these funds to meet client <br />needs in the Eldercare Division. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these <br />funds for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #2) <br />Animal Services <br />3. Last spring,-the Town of Carrboro lost its Animal Control Officer, and the Town requested <br />that the County provide animal control service on a contractual basis, between June 19 and <br />October 1, 2006. On June 27, 2006, Commissioners approved that contract. <br />The Town has been unable to fill its vacant position, and requested an extension to the <br />original contract- that extended service through December 31, 2006. Commissioners <br />approved the contract extension at .its September 19, 2006 meeting. Staff projects that <br />additional revenue associated with the contract and its extension would total $14,310 for the <br />28-week contract period. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for <br />the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #3) <br />Visitors Bureau <br />4. The Town of Chapel Hill. appropriated $85,000 for the fiscal year 2006-2007 to the Chapel <br />Hill/Orange. County Visitors Bureau for general operational support and visitor services. The <br />County's 2006-07 original budget included $69,000 in revenues from the Town of Chapel Hill <br />for the Visitors Bureau. This budget amendment provides for the increase of budgeted funds <br />from Chapel Hill totaling $16,000. (See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the attached budget ordinance amendments. <br />
