Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation Te %ommunicaiions Facilities
Page 2
Condusions
Section 8.8.17a.2 in the Zoning Ordinance, Standards of Evaluation, speaks to the protection of
historic properties and scenic views in provision j), "The tower and antenna will not result in a
significant adverse impact on the view of or from any historic site, scenic road, or major view
corridor." The attached map identifies some of the natural and cultural resources that are
known to exist in the nearby vicinity of these proposed sites. The final placement of the
telecommunications facility, in terms of topography and screening, will determine the visual
impact of the tower on its surrounding community. Based on our initial review of one and one-
half mile radius, however, it does not appear that the proposed new tower for the Piedmont
Electric Membership Corporation property would negatively impact the natural resources of the
adjacent, protected lands, nor would it impact any of the known cultural resources.
If you have questions or would like to discuss further please contact this office at (919) 245-
2590.
cc: David Stancil
Environment and Resource Conservation
PO Box 8181 1306 -A Revere Road
Hillsborough, NC 27278
(919) 245 -2590
67
