d) Monopole, lattice or guyed <br />telecommunications towers shall not <br />be located within '/2 mile of any <br />existing monopole, lattice or guyed <br />telecommunications tower. An <br />exception may be allowed when the <br />applicant can sufficiently <br />demonstrate that 1) appropriate <br />space on the existing <br />telecommunication tower is not <br />available; or 2) the applicant has <br />made good faith effort to negotiate <br />an agreement with the owner of the <br />existing telecommunication tower <br />and has been unsuccessful, which <br />must be documented in writing; or 3) <br />the telecommunication equipment on <br />the existing telecommunication <br />tower is not compatible with the <br />proposed telecommunication <br />equipment of the applicant; or 4) <br />adequate coverage by the applicant <br />cannot be met at the location of the <br />existing telecommunication tower; or <br />5) the existing telecommunication <br />tower cannot be reasonably modified <br />to accommodate additional co- <br />location by the applicant. <br />Exceptions shall only be allowed <br />after the County's consultant or <br />Staff indicating that coverage is not <br />possible on an existing tower at the <br />four - carrier capacity or other user <br />capacity that can be achieved <br />performs a thorough analysis of the <br />search area provided by the <br />applicant. There must be an 80% <br />approval vote of the deciding board <br />for this specific finding to pass the <br />exception criteria. <br />e. Evidence that the applicant has <br />investigated the possibilities for <br />locating the proposed facilities on an <br />existing tower. Such evidence shall <br />consist of: <br />X Yes No A 157' monopole tower is located <br />0.66 miles north of the site on Old <br />NC Highway 10. Another 160' <br />guyed tower is located 0.66 miles <br />to the south along NC Highway 86 <br />South. <br />Neither of the towers is adequate <br />for Piedmont' s purpose.
