Draft <br /> DRAFT <br /> Appendix B <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING TI�THREE-YEAR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> UPDATE to be submitted to Sta.te of North Carolina, <br /> WHEREAS North Carolina statutorily requires each County and Municipality to update its ten <br /> year solid waste plan every three years, and <br /> WHEREAS Orange County and its municipalities have historically cooperated closely on solid <br /> waste management including plan development,and <br /> WI-�REAS the plan to be adopted reaffirms the goal of 61%waste reduction per capita <br /> originally established in 1997 and reaffirmed in 2000, 2003 and 2008 (for 2006 submittal),and <br /> WHEREAS the Board of Orange County Commissioners has created a representative solid waste <br /> management plan work group that has worked for five years on the comprehensive, integrated <br /> long term plan,and <br /> WHEREAS the Orange County Solid Waste Department,the Work Group and the Solid Waste <br /> Advisory Board have developed a draft interim plan for consideration by the Town,and <br /> WHEREAS plan development has included representatives from the Town and the Town's <br /> interests have thereby been represented in plan development, and <br /> WHEREAS,the Town has reviewed and considered the plan and offered its recommendations <br /> and revisions to be incorporated into the plan document to be submitted to the State for review <br /> after consideration by the Board of Orange County Commissioners, and <br /> WHEREAS,this plan submittal is a living document and recognizes that the County's overall <br /> integrated solid waste management plan will continue to evolve,and <br /> WHEREAS the current submittal is about 15 months overdue from the original plan update due <br /> date of June 30, 2009, <br /> THEREFORE NOW BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of adopts and <br /> recommends this solid waste management plan update pending adoption by the Board of Orange <br /> County Commissioners. <br /> This is the of , 2010. <br /> 52 <br />
