What services will be provided, what populations} will be served, and what objectives <br />will be achieved. This Grant Summary will be used to present your Application to the HWTF <br />Commissioners for consideration <br />The OCHD, iri partnership with Orange County school districts, will strengthen current <br />programming on youth tobacco-use prevention, cessation, and secondhand smoke <br />eliminiation. The program will recruit and train diverse high school peer educators to lead <br />prevention education in middle and high schools, and at community events. Anew media- <br />based social norms campaign will work to further denormalize tobacco use in schools. The <br />program will enhance its advocacy with family-oriented restaurants and partner with the <br />Orange County Asthma Coalition (OCAC) on a smoke-free dining campaign. These <br />activities will lead to an increase in recent declines in youth tobacco-use. <br />Co-Apulicant /Partnership Summary <br />In the space below, describe in 100 words or less your partners (if any). List the individual <br />organizations, their roles in delivering services under the Grant, and the means by which you <br />propose to share funding. <br />The Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) and Orange County Schools (OCS) are <br />active and commited partners. The School Health Coordinators from each school system will <br />continue to act as liaisons for the tobacco prevention coordinator from the health department. <br />They will help facilitate entry into the schools and connect the coordinator with the <br />appropriate teachers, classes and students to implement the project. The schools will receive <br />mini-grant monies for middle and high school-based groups to conduct special prevention <br />projects. The project will also partner with the OCAC to implement asmoke-free dining <br />campaign. Funds for this campaign will be managed by the OCHD. <br />3 <br />
