RECOGNITION OF THE ABCD INSTITUTE PARTICIPANTS <br />The N.C. Crime Prevention Division sponsored the Addressing Basic Challenges in <br />Development Institute July 16-20 on the campus of N.C. Central University in Durham.. <br />The five youth who participated in the ABCD Institute program at N.. C. Central <br />University were recognized and presented a certificate of appreciation. <br />3. RETIRING EDG MEMBERS RECOGNITION <br />Three EDC members were recognized for their service on the Economic Development <br />Commission. They are John Gastineau who served from 1983 to 1989 and served as chair of <br />the Commission from 1983-1986, Dennis Howell who served from 1983-1989 and Paul Williams <br />who served from 1984-1989. <br />E. REPORTS <br />1_ REPORT ON APPOINTMENTS TO NEW HOPE - ENO RIVER OPEN SPACE ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Hartwell, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to <br />appoint Ms. Susan Waldrop and Ms. Jean Hamilton as County's representatives on the New __.l <br />Hope-Eno River Open Space Corridor Advisory Committee. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br />._ .:'.i <br />2. COMPLAINT ABOUT DOGS ON RILEY ROAD <br />A complaint was made at the last regular meeting about dogs on Riley Road. The <br />investigative report is in the permanent agenda file in the Clerk's Office. Two visits <br />by the Animal Gontrol Director found no violations of the Animal Control Ordinance. The <br />dogs appeared to be well cared for, well disciplined and friendly. Concerns .of the <br />neighbors were solicited and suggestions transmitted to the owners. Further follow-up <br />will occur. <br />3. UPDATE ON THE CIP PROJECTS TIMETABLE . <br />Gounty Manager John Link outlined the process for the CIP Project Development. <br />The process is listed below: <br />1. There will be two planning committees; one for the Southern Human Services <br />Building and one for the Orange County Government Services Center. <br />2. The Committees will follow the prescribed selection process to hire design <br />professionals and return a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners. <br />3. Following the selection process, the Architect will meet with their <br />respective Committee and with Orange County Departments who will potentially be affected <br />by the new facility. The Architect will incorporate their comments to the extent <br />possible and produce his recommendation of amount of space needed, type of space needed <br />and locations of each department within the building. The Architect will receive <br />comment from the Committee and affected departments following this step. <br />During this phase, the Architect will also meet with the Commissioners to <br />discuss their general concerns as well as to address any specific needs they identify. <br />
