He,. <br />would like to see the project move ahead and not be contingent upon some type of _ <br />agreement that assures that new farmers will get in, <br />Commissioner Hartwell stated that one advantage is that they could hold <br />the market more than just one day a week. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis expressed a concern about the urgency of releasing <br />this $15,000. He stated that the recreational facility on Homestead Road is a <br />potential site for a Farmer's Market. He noted that the Carrboro Town $oard has <br />had a lot of discussion on this proposed project. <br />Chairman Carey pointed out that what is being released is not the $15,000 <br />but the condition that was-placed on this release, <br />Commissioner Marshall emphasized that $15,000 is a lot of money to put <br />into a project that is going to benefit people: from other counties. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis stated there is not a lot of support for this <br />project from the £arm;ers in the northern part of the County. <br />Chairman Carey stated he does not want the $15,000 from Orange County <br />contingent upon what other counties may contribute to the project, It is going to <br />benefit the farmers. He asked that additional discussion be held on the benefit of <br />this project £or new farmers. It was decided to postpone any action on this item <br />until additional information and assurances that Orange County farmers will benefit <br />from this project are received. <br />H, APPOINTMENTS <br />CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD ON AGING - Lula Mae Cotten was reappointed as a Chapel <br />Hill representative, and Norm Gustaveson was appointed as an AT LARGE <br />representative. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. COMMISSION - Robin Zill and Howard Lee were appointed as <br />AT LARGE representatives. Shirley Reynolds was reappointed as an AT LARGE <br />representative. David Maner was appointed as a Chapel Hill representative, and Tom <br />Roberts was appointed as a Hillsborough representative, <br />HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION - Karen Metzguer was reappointed as an AT <br />LARGE representative, Dr. Martha Branscombe, Ethel G, Girvin and Beverly Havens <br />were appointed to AT LARGE positions on this board, <br />TRIANGLE J' EMS COUNCIL - Victor Germino was reappointed as a consumer <br />representative on this Council, <br />RECREATION AND PARKS ADVISORY COUNCIL - Dwight T. (George) Shaw was appointed <br />as a representative from Ena Township. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Marshall to <br />go,into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing litigation, <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by Commissioner Hartwell to <br />go into regular session to adjourn the meeting. <br />I.
