County Manaqer's Report <br /> Frank Clifton said that Representative Faison has introduced the legislation that would <br /> allow Caswell County to operate a government-owned broadband system. He thinks that it <br /> might be worthwhile to ask Representative Faison to do something like this in Orange County. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to <br /> ask Representative Faison to introduce legislation to allow Orange County to operate a <br /> government-owned broadband system. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Frank Clifton said that back in December the Board of County Commissioners <br /> authorized the County to spend up to 50% of the cost of installing sidewalk along Margaret <br /> Lane near the new Orange County Library. This was based on the estimate of $70-80,000. <br /> The bids are $90,000 and the town has asked that the County be willing to still contribute 50%, <br /> which would raise the cost about $6,500. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Yuhasz, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to <br /> contribute 50% to the installation of a sidewalk along Margaret Lane. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 10. County Attorney's Report <br /> John Roberts said that two local bills were submitted — one regarding the <br /> Orange/Alamance County line and one regarding hunting deer with dogs and Orange County <br /> banning that practice. <br /> He was at the Legislature today to defend the Orange/Alamance Line bill and this <br /> received a favorable committee report to proceed to the General Assembly. Not all members <br /> of the local delegation were willing to sign off on the hunting deer with dogs' legislation. In <br /> order for that to be considered in committee, it has to be non-controversial. It was suggested <br /> to try this again next year. <br /> 11. Appointments <br /> a. Oranqe County Board of Adjustment—Appointment <br /> The Board considered making an appointment to the Orange County Board of <br /> Adjustment. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Pelissier, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to <br /> appoint Dr. Larry Wright to a first full term ending June 30, 2013. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> b.
