Year-To-Date Budget <br />Summary <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Clarence Grier, (919) 245-2453 <br />PURPOSE: To approve budget, grant, and school capital project ordinance amendments for <br />Fiscal Year 2010-11. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Emergency Services Department <br />The Orange County Emergency Services Department has received notification from the <br />N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety of additional supplemental funds <br />totaling $30,551 related to the 2010 Emergency Management Performance Grant <br />award. In addition, the department received additional supplemental funds related to <br />the 2009 Performance Grant award totaling $26,346. This budget amendment provides <br />for the receipt of these additional funds totaling $56,897 for use in FY 2010-11. The <br />department plans to use these funds for temporary personnel to assist in maintaining <br />the department's comprehensive Emergency Management Program and other <br />emergency management planning initiatives, to purchase program supplies, training, <br />and printing of the Emergency Operations Center manuals. (See Attachment 1, column <br />1) <br />Health Department <br />2. The Health Department has received notification from the N.C. Division of Public Health <br />of the receipt of an Eat Smart, Move More Community Grant award totaling $14,920 for <br />FY 2010-11. The program is called "Preparing Lifelong Active Youth (PLAY)", and it is <br />an after school program in Orange County schools to encourage at-risk middle school <br />age students to become involved in sports and exercise activities. <br />
