When speaking of the Chapel Hill Township, North of the Joint Planning <br />Area the land use plan states that "while earicultural and manaoed forest make <br />up only a small paxtian of the area's total land area, they nonetheless provide <br />an important component of the rural character much of the area has." (Plan 3.12-2) <br />The fallowing ar hpolicy statements for the Chapel Hill Township nar-:h of the <br />Joint Planning area-r` _ <br />1.The rural residential character of the area should be <br />maintained and be the predominant land use. <br />2-3. Duke Forest ~ratts, which are s valuable research and <br />teaching facility end are avaiable fo_ public use, <br />should be protected from adverse development pressures.
