~~$ ~ ~ECEl~~~
~'zZ-~$
Route 7, Box 71B ~-~~
Whiteville, NC 28472 _
August 18, 1988
Ms. Shirley Marshal, Chairperson
Baard of Orange County Commissioners
Orange County Courthouse
Hillsborough, NC 27278
Dear Ms. Marshal:
Inasmuch as Y will be unable to attend the public hearing regarding
proposed amendments to the Orange County Zoning Atlas on Monday,
August 22, 1988, I am asking that this letter be added to the agenda
and read in its entirety in my absence.
A recent notification (the first of any kind that I have ever received)
concerning planning and zoning regulations of the Protected Watersheds
in Orange County caused me some anguish, It generated a lengthy telephone
call to your planning department. From that, I received some regulations
pertaining to Protected Watersheds and highlights of their main thrust.
It now appears that the very fact that I and my Orange County neighbors
south of old Highway 70, who have for many years resisted over development,
are going to have a pay the price for exploitation by others.
What I considered a security (if needed) for retirement, medical crises,
children's educa~ion and such has now been diminished by what amounts to
my (and my neighbor's) supplying c 1 can water to a large segment of Orange
County's citizens. Somehow this just does not seem right.
Would you, in your deliberations, please consider my plight, represent my
interest, and in same manner lift or ease these restrictions? It seems
to me that those who profiteered and over developed in years past should
be the ones to pay the f iddier now.
I appreciate your consideration and reouest that a copy of all further
proposals for land use in Orange County be sent to me".
Sincerely,
Bonn R. Kennedy
4.1.A.17
swk
~~
