4~ <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Hartwell, seconded by Commissioner Carey on the <br />Qrder Authorizing $1,000,000 Water Bonds which was adopted on July 25, 1988. This order <br />was read aloud by Commissioner Hartwell. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS. Chain Marshall announced the vote on the final passage of this order ,.-~..r <br />as five (5) ayes and no noes and that the order entitled "Order Authorizing $1,000,000 <br />Water Bonds" has been adopted. k. <br />A copy of these three orders is attached to these minutes on .pages '2.92; 29y <br />Chair Marshall directed the Glerk to the Board of Commissioners to publish each of <br />said orders, together with the appended statement as required by the Local Government <br />Bond Act, as amended, once in The Durham Morninr~ HeraldL The Chapel Hill Newspaper and <br />The News of Orange County. Chair Marshall asked each Commissioners if he had read the <br />Resolution Calling a Special Bond Referendum and all responded that they had read said <br />Resolution. <br />Commissioner Willhoit introduced the Resolution Calling A, Special Bond Referendum. <br />Ghair Marshall directed the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners to mail or deliver a <br />certified copy of this resolution to the Orange County Board of Elections within three <br />days after .the adoption hereof. <br />Motion was made by Gammissioner Hartwell, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit that the <br />resolution entitled "RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL BOND REFERENDUM" was approved. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS. Chair Marshall announced that the vote on the "RESOLUTION CALLING A <br />SPECIAL BOND REFERENDUM" was five (5) ayes and no noes. <br />This ended the bond proceedings. <br />RESOLUTIONS OR PROCLAMATIONS <br />1. Resolution of Recognition - Jarrett Thompson <br />Chair Marshall presented to Jarrett Thompson a resolution of recognition. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by Commissioner Carey to <br />adopt the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, on January 27, 1988 Jarrett Thompson of Orange County, North Carolina did <br />respond to an emergency, saving the life of his fellow citizen Ralph <br />Coleman who was severely injured and lay unconscious following an accident <br />in felling a large tree, and <br />WHEREAS, the quality of life and sometimes the fact of life itself for citizens <br />throughout the County depends upon skilled and compassionate acts of <br />neighbors, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange County Board of Commissioners da hereby publicly <br />recognize and commend Jarrett Thompson for his bravery, knowledge and <br />fortitude and do uphold his actions as a model for others in our community. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br />E.
