Develop a major public relations campaign that focuses on eliminating child abuse and <br />partner /spousal abuse and promoting positive family relationships. <br />B. Improve treatment for victims of abuse. <br />C. Provide appropriate treatment and punishment for abusers. <br />Recommendation : Continue and build on current community policing <br />efforts. <br />Action Strategies: <br />A. Expand community policing. <br />B. Encourage neighborhood watch programs in all neighborhoods. <br />C. Discuss safety issues in a common - sense, non - alarmist manner with children in schools and <br />adults in other venues. <br />Recommendation : Address the needs of minority populations as well <br />as especially vulnerable populations in delivery of <br />public safety services. <br />Action Strategies: <br />A. Develop crime prevention programs serving those populations. <br />B. Develop relationships with other service providers who have special ties to those <br />populations. <br />C. Encourage internships with youth from these populations. <br />D. Recruit officers with foreign language capability, as needed. <br />73 <br />
